Distractions

Is it possible that as we assemble for prayer, in any forum, a unyielded spirit (I'm not sure if that's a good way of saying it, but only the words I have at the moment), a person not blended and not in the flow of the Lord, can without having to say a word distract from the corporate pressing in? How vital is it that we "be on the same page" in the Spirit and be "in spirit" together?

If one brother or sister in a group of several is restrained in their affections will the whole group lean towards also being restrained in their affections in that moment?

Assuming that is the case, how do we press forward past the distracting and the distressing? I doubt the answer is just to buckle down and concentrate all the more...that would just be an exercise of the mind and will...

Well, no answers in this moment...I suppose though...the obvious one...more of the Lord, more of Him operative as the Spirit in our spirit...

I must decrease so that He might increase!

Prayer/Comments from 5/8

Our Lord is our history. He is our past , present and future. He is why we exist. We don't want to simply exist any longer, we desire more of our Lord. We desire more of our Lord for all. Voice's spoke that hearts would be filled with desire for our Lord, not just a desire for Him but a desire to touch Him. Give hearts a desire to touch You and You alone Lord.

Why exist? Why fill? Why desire?

Praise the Lord the answer to all is so simple, so very simple. The answer is this:

FOR HIS GLORY! Simply for His Glory!

What a Lord!

Great Article on Prayer

ok...ok...one last one...sorry guys...I just wanted to do this before I forget...

A great article on prayer that helped me...I told some of you about it...other's I didn't have the chance...I think it contains some very good and very objective (as opposed to subjective and narrow) views on how and why we operate the way we do, and it points out that it may NOT be the way the Lord has instilled in us for His Divine Pleasure.

I am not saying EVERYTHING in it is great...but any how...please read it...I am sure it will prove beneficial for us all as we press further into Him through the exercise and release of our spirit in prayer.

Streams of Thought (5/24/07)

From this morning...

"Prayer is a release of the spirit...the Holy Spirit in the human spirit expressed through our soul (mind, will, and emotions)..."

"We pick up preconceptions like children pick up illness...we have so many thoughts about God and so many ways we approach Him...when really all we want is simply to know Him"

"Its unavoidable to pick up methods, and that is not wrong or bad, it is what it is...but praise the Lord that we are free to set them down again..."

"When Martha Kilpatrick turned to the Lord just before sharing with us she got quiet before Him, but the thing I loved most about it was she smiled...as if she really enjoyed Him!"

"I feel like the last several years have been, endure, endure, and MORE ENDURE!!! Somewhere along the line I lost that sense of 'enjoy'."

"It's so rare when we smile as we pray. Our faces are always twisted and screwed up--because we are concentrating--it's as though if we concetrate with our mind enough we will be able to activate our spirit...but in truth it's just the opposite...we have reversed God's order! That sense of concentration is really just trying a conjuring up something in our spirit..."

"We think the more effected our voices are, the more sensitive and tender our whispers are, the more spiritual we are being and becoming ...but really the Lord is no more impressed with this than if we shouted at Him (imagining Him to be hard of hearing)... It's just very difficult to be uneffected and honest (ie ourselves) with Him."

EXPERIMENT ONE: Let's take the next three minutes and be REAL in front of Him--talk to Him just like we would one another...no hoarse whispers...no need for yelling either...just truly be with Him as the living Person He is...and speak to Him...cares and praises...adoration and petition...whatever is there...Let's just be real...

"How scary and exciting...it feels like tilling new ground and over turning old ground..."

"I'm just glad we only did it for three minutes! That was the hardest thing just to speak, UNRELIGIOUSLY, to Him...I slipped back into my faux-effected-spiritualized speech for a minute but then you guys kept on and so did I!"

"I think I whisper to the Lord because I'm not confident before Him...I lack boldness before Him..."

"There is more...He's new every morning, He is more!"

Beginnings...

..."A few brothers went away to a place in the country...They received some light from the Lord and were willing to follow that light, but they did not know how. They shut themselves in a house and prayed together. When they had finished praying, the ground was wet from their tears. These men wanted to follow the love of the Lord. They could not keep themselves from following Him! They realized it would be a difficult way, a hard way. They felt themselves too weak to go on. They only thing they could do was come to go to the Lord and pray and weep. The love of the Lord is victorious! After prayer, these few people went out. They went village by village to preach the gospel. Not many years afterward--in that area--more than a hundred meetings rose up. The people the Lord blessed and used were not educated or special in the world's eyes, but they had an incomparable love for the Lord...

But that was then...this is now.

Now another group of people is needed.

A new people is needed. These people will be required to pay certain costs to return to the original way. You must decide if you are earnest about joining that throng who, in the past, have carried His testimony.

You must spend much time praying for the church...the church must be strong in spirit in order to closely follow the Lord!

May the Lord bless you for His Purpose.--an excerpt from Passing the Torch by James Chen concerning how the Little Flock (the house church movement in China) was born.
